1. What are your channels of information? From Agency (company, citizen, research-students) to the citizen? (eg phone, fax, sms, website, newsletter, mailing lists, chat - skype, forum)
e-mail and the web site.
2. What are your channels of communication? By citizens to the Agency (company, citizen, research-students) and vice versa? (eg phone, fax, text messages, mailing lists, blogs, chat, wikis, forums)
Phone, like one-one talking.
3. Where did your interest for the use of ICT to inform, communicate and to participate (engage, consult)?
Around here is so simple because everybody is connecting. It comes as you move in. Just plug-in is so easy compared to other place that I lived in. In other place you have to have more knowledge about technique. Here is easy and you don't have to think too much.
4. What are your resources and equipment of IT infrastructure?
Laptop, [internet] connection and phone. As a office furniture designer I always connect, I receive e-mail to my phone.
5. All of the workers (members, partners, research group) have the ability to use ICT tools?
Yes. Our kids do it all the time, even right now.
6. There is a responsibility of communication? An employee communication? Of tutors or consultants?
If I need information about the [Arabianranta] network I could get that and answer.
7. Occurring phenomena empowerment or voluntarism?
Our house is part of a lot of small apartment. So, there was a rapid movement in and out. There are families in bigger apartment stay, so is some one is involved is better who is not going to move out. So I decided to start to moderate. Is more convenient to have every year a different moderator. Another moderator [straight to Kari] asked me to be a e-moderator.
8. Communication is differentiated according to target audience?
That is a open and close site and when I log in I care more about what could be my official opinion. Instead if I am in the open site I'll answer more without thinking to munch.
9. Can you tell me the experiences of information, consultation and active participation made using the ICT and NOT as a factor of involvement? (past, present, and future plans)
When we step up to this latest site, then I had to built up our house site. I did after work. It doesn't take so much time to maintain. Kind of moderate and update telephone numbers. First time I did it in the spare time, in a couple a week time. And now when I work I check once a day but it doesn't take time only if nobody ask o need anything. 10 minutes a day max. I could have system as RSS but I prefer to check it.
10. Have you had other experiences point and specific areas? (eg historical, tourism, management and design of the neighbourhood, social cohesion, organization of events, planning, gas, real estate services ...) (past, present, and future plans)
Those are the topics that are on the site, as basic things. We e-moderators feeling those things that are kind of making without our house and things. We look the other site (of the other moderator) to check out what kind of informations the others put there: like timetable and some people have fly markets, but we doesn't have because our building has many movements and I don't think it might works (but some places that are more stable).
Other kind of house when there are more working clubs or rooms or something. So depends on the house that you are. In my house I've tryed to add some questions what the people want to me but I didn't have too many answers.
11. Have you tried other combinations, systems and tools, and between real and virtual? How to reach non digitization?
Not in my house but I thinks that there are some kind of billboards but basically it works in that way: asphalt works or something like everybody needs to move theirs cars than we get e-mail and put on the site. That's main use.
Of course we have kind of normal billboards and I've put some arabiantanta web page prints screen shoot stick on the billboards. so that new residents-habitants get idea of what things are on the site and how to apply with user ID.
12. Have you taken action to mediation and communication with the council or other bodies?
I contact via mail or phone directly the council. I belive that contact directly the members of council happen more than trying to do it by the local agency. I think that the role of the local agency is mantain the organisation of Arabianranta. I've never even though ADC as more than it.
I contact the right person in city (if is about construction I'll contact construction office city of Helsinki).
13. What are your perspectives, orientations and evaluations of general use of ICT?
It will increase very rapidly as the last 10 years. Now I could work from home and I should need work through the city and I'd going to do everything done. It's just the feeling that no all worker must be present at the same time in the same place. Some people have day off in their office and it works.
I wouldn't mind to work from my office, one day.
14. Acknowledges an interest, a push on the part of institutions? What funds or claims regarding the use of ICT?
I know that wireless networks were bigger some years ago and it stopped or become close open wireless and more available; I think that it's the main invest of the government.
Here in Arabianranta a private company have given the money for the broadband network.
15. You start courses approach to new technologies? Literacy? What's missing citizens?
As e-moderator we had our courses. The guy that set up the things organised that courses for us to learn to create our intra pages.
16. The people in your neighbourhood, feel a lack of services ICT?
I think that people are happy of our network. Last summer the service company increase from 10/10 Mb to 100/100 Mb capacity band and nobody notice that. It work pretty well as ICT.
17. Felt that push too much on Ict reinforce inequality? Or open the territory to the phenomena of greater democracy?
I think computer are so common that the second theory it will take effect. Ten years ago I would answer in a different way. Here and now my answer is ICT increase democracy.
18. Could you speak more of your active contribution to planning and land management? The participation of citizens with regard to land and public spaces?
We have many photographies about the neighbourhood and every building has his artworks pieces. And behind those artists there are discussions. There are discussions about parking, garden, coutyard. The most hilaric thing was: on the beach can you trough the stones in the water? It's expensive, they brought the stones, you can't fall the stones. We have that kind of discussions: gardening issues as how much water on the plants or about tram squilling. There are much discussions.
