Presantazione

IZMO associazione culturale nasce nel 2006 a Torino con lo scopo di mettere in atto le ricerche e i progetti formulati durante sei anni di attività del gruppo-sfera: incontro informale di architetti e ingegneri. L'ambito di attività dell'associazione è il territorio: luogo di relazioni tra individui e spazio, tra persone ed ambiente.

L'obiettivo dell'associazione è favorire i rapporti tra gli abitanti e il costruito, la fruizione degli spazi, le relazioni sociali. IZMO ritiene che la qualità della vita è condizionata dagli spazi quotidiani, dagli spostamenti, dai ritmi urbani, dall’ambiente e dalle relazioni sociali. L'associazione opera in questo dominio: stimola e causa mutamenti condivisi da chi è coinvolto attraverso installazioni, software, oggetti ed architetture, fino al progetto urbano.

Il metodo progettuale si fonda sulle teorie della complessità: osservazione, intervento e aggiustamento degli interventi in base a quanto osservato. Per incentivare lo scambio interpersonale, le relazioni sociali, l'analisi del territorio e le progettualità IZMO è in grado di attivare processi partecipativi e di servirsi dei nuovi media come mezzi che facilitano la comunicazione. Il nome dell'associazione ha origine dai suoi scopi e per assonanza dalla parola istmo: una sottile linea di terra che congiunge territori e organismi.

Nell'ambito dei temi di interesse (architettura, arte, urbanistica, design, sociologia e nuovi media) l’associazione è in grado in via esemplificativa di:

• organizzare e promuovere iniziative culturali rivolte alle diverse attività artistiche;
• organizzare convegni, seminari, esposizioni, iniziative didattiche ed artigianali su temi di interesse per i propri associati e/o per soggetti terzi;
• incentivare e curare la difesa e la valorizzazione del patrimonio storico, artistico ed ambientale;
• organizzare e promuovere progetti mirati di studio e ricerca;
• organizzare la raccolta di documentazione concernente i settori e i temi di interesse dell’associazione, mettendola a disposizione dei propri associati e di soggetti terzi;
• organizzare e promuovere l’edizione e la diffusione dei risultati delle ricerche, degli atti dei convegni e di qualsiasi altra opera attinente l’oggetto sociale utilizzando i mezzi e i supporti più opportuni.

Nella realizzazione di tali attività l’associazione può delegare a persone ed enti pubblici e privati la gestione normativa, amministrativa e finanziaria; riservando in ogni caso a sé la direzione e l’organizzazione degli aspetti scientifici delle iniziative stesse.

In termini generali IZMO si propone di coinvolgere nei progetti tutti i suoi associati puntando alla collaborazione con il maggior numero di soggetti.

Dal 2007 IZMO condivide la missione e lo statuto del TYC - Torino Youth Centre; Casa delle Associazioni Giovanili dove l'associazione culturale ha sede.

IZMO cultural association is established in Torino on 2007 with the purpose to start up the researches and schemes raised during six years of gruppo-sfera's activities: informal group of architects and engineers. The association field is the territory: where take place the relations between public space and individuals, people and environment.

The association aims to promote the interchange between inhabitants and the built environment; the space fruition; the social relations. IZMO regards that the quality of life is conditioned by ordinary spaces, movements, urban conditions, environment and social relationships. The association works in this domain by encouraging and triggering shared changes with the people involved by installations, softwares, objects, and architectures, up till the urban projects.

The planning method is grounded on complexity theories: observation, intervention and setting right based on what is observed. To encourage the personal interchanges, the social relations, the territorial analysis and the schemes IZMO is able to trigger participatory process and use new media as means which helps communications. The association name is originated from its purposes and from consonance to the word isthmus: thin line of land which connect territories and organisms.

In the field of its interesting topics (architecture, art, urban, sociology and new media) the association is able, for instance to:

• organise and promote cultural initiatives orientated to different artistic activities;

• organise meetings, seminars, expositions, educational and hand-crafted initiatives about topic that is interesting to associates and/or third party;

• propel and treat the protection and valorisation of historical, artistic and environmental heritage;

• organise and promote targeted schemes about study and research;

• organise the collection of documents about the fields and topics interesting for the association, make it available for the associates and third party;

• organise and promote, through appropriate means and mediums, the issue and diffusion of research outcomes, collection of conference papers and any other works pertaining to the articles of association

Through the fulfillment of those activities the association is able to entrust staff and public and private organizations, the management of regulatory, administrative and finance. In any case IZMO is reserving to itself the management and organisation of the initiative and their scientific supervision.

In general terms IZMO intend to include its associates on whole schemes and aims the collaboration with the largest number of subjects.

Since 2007 IZMO shared the mission and the articles of association TYC - Torino Youth Centre; (house for young association), where the cultural association has its head office.
